China International Consumer Goods Fair (CICGF), approved by the State Council, co-sponsored by Ministry of Commerce PRC and Zhejiang Provincial People's government, is the largest professional international consumer goods fair in China, which ranks only second to Canton Fair among all the exhibitions sponsored by Ministry of Commerce.

CICGF is held in the famous harbor city of Ningbo June 8-12 every year.Seven sessions have been successfully held since 2002.Renowned as one of the most important windows of opening up to the outside world in China, Ningbo is an important foreign trade harbor city, with its import and export trade volume reaching USD 56.509 billion in 2007.The cargo throughput of Ningbo Port amounted to 344 million tons, ranking 2nd in China and in the world.The container throughput of the year exceeded 9.35 million TEU, ranking 11th in the world.

Ningbo International Conference & Exhibition Center is a large-scale modern exhibition hall invested by Ningbo Municipal Government. Located at the center of Ningbo City, the exhibition hall enjoys a convenient transportation.

The exhibition center covers an area of 975333.4m2 and a construction area of 90,000m2 with an investment of 700 million RMB for the first-phase of the project. Ningbo is located at the middle part of China's coastline and southern flank of the Yangtze River Delta, bordering on Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Ningbo is one of the cities opening up to the outside world, an independently- planning- city enjoying the same rights as those of a provincial government in economic management, "a large city" entitled to formulate local laws and regulations, and a famous historic city with rich cultural heritage. It covers an area of 9,365 sq.km and has a population of 5.65 million. The jurisdiction of Ningbo City encompasses two counties (Xiangshan and Ninghai), three county-level cities (Yuyao, Cixi and Fenghua) and six urban districts (Haishu, Jiangdong, Jiangbei, Zhenhai, Beilun and Yinzhou).

Partly owing to the sound conditions, the social economy of Ningbo has been developed rapidly since opening up to the outside world. In 2007, the city GDP reached 343.31 billion RMB yuan, with GDP per capita USD 8026. Ningbo has become an important industrial city and foreign trade port in east China, a key city and chemical industrial base in Yangtze River Delta and an economic center of Zhejiang Province.

Ningbo enjoys subtropical monsoon climate featuring mild temperature, moderate humidity and distinctive seasons. The city is an ideal tourist place with culture monuments and historical sites.

Foreign Trade & Economy

As a historical port city for foreign trade, Ningbo became one of the three ports for foreign trade in China as early as the 7th century. In 2008, the import and export trade volume of Ningbo reached USD 67.84 billion, with an increase of 20.1%; the export volume was USD 46.33 billion and the import volume was 21.51 billion. Ningbo’s import and export volume ranked the 2nd position among the nation’s 5 specially designated municipalities and the 3rd position among the 15 sub-provincial cities. The import and export volume of Ningbo port reached a new high of USD 140 billion, with an increase of 25.5%.
