Interesting things about Olympics

Olympic Games is an authoritative international activity , but there are no lack of splendid & interesting things during that. I get those from magazine and share with you .
1.Ancient Olympic Games include dash ,discus throw ,javelin throw ,wrestling ,music race(like fluting),the champion of music race can achieve a tremendous honor ,that is accompany at the jumping race .
2.For the jumping race , the athletes always hold two dumbbells (about 4-5 kgs )with them .why ? first ,the old Greece thought it can keep body balance ;second,they concluded that they could jump further than without anything holding in their hands . Actually , it is impossible for you to jump further but just the opposite to what ones wishes .
3.In the ancient Greek Olympics,women were not allowed to participate , or she will be sentenced to death . A famous word from Pierre de Coubertin "where a woman's honor depends on the quantity and quality of the child she feeds" . Nowadays,the restriction has been destoryed .
4.The first champion of modern Olympic Games is a triple jump athlete with a record of over 13 meters. He is a sophomore from Harvard University . He travelled to Greece and joined the race temporarily , he luckily won the first prize .But when he went back with the prize , he was told to be fired by his university .And, he was rehabilitated and awarded till 80 years old.
5.In the first Olympics ,no golden medal for athletes cause they regarded gold as a worldliness . Instead ,they issued sliver medal to the champion who won first prize .
6.For the marathon race ，in the first Olympics, there are not much rules for athletes,anyone who signed advanced can join even without any training .many 100-meter athletes joined and failed after their short-distance sprint . there wasn't any facilities offerring water, beverage for runners ,so they picked fruit even ran into farmer's house to look for water .
