How to development of clients and connect with them?

I have came into my company for 8 months. At first I mainly deal with documents ,such as contract ,commercial invoice ,packing list and so on .But now the manufacturing isn't good as before ,now I must improve customers and connect with them ,but I don't know how to do this.
